Melo who missed Juventus pre-season training on Thursday will also end up missing the first couple of seasons of Serie A 2021-22. For the player, the massive setback comes across as sordid news with Arthur missing out on making an early impression on new boss Maximiliano Allegri.

Arthur has suffered a post-traumatic injury of the soft tissue between the tibia and fibula in his right leg. First coming to the fore in February of this year, Arthur Melo had attempted to treat his injury with shockwaves and therapies but the medical treatment was futile.

The latest development is the freshest bad news Melo has had to encounter ever since his move from Barcelona. Despite being part of a mammoth 72 million pound swap deal with Miralem Pjanic, one which saw Pjanic head to the La Liga, Melo failed to repose the faith Juventus earmarked in him last term.

However, given the player’s innate expertise and ability to keep the ball ticking all over the park, Juventus would have been eager to unlock his true potential. The side has once again indulged in the services of Allegri as its vies to reclaim its Serie A throne after having endured a torrid season under Andrea Pirlo.

Juventus’s incredible reign at the top was brought to an end by Inter Milan’s Antonio Conte.
