Martinelli’s current contract of £90,000 a week runs only till 2024.
Martinelli’s Current Form
The wide forward has proven himself to be one of Mikel Arteta’s most important attackers this season.
During Sunday’s game against Liverpool, Martinelli displayed several moments of brilliance which defenders simply could not wrap their heads around.
His electrifying pace and movement while scoring and assisting in the game proved unstoppable for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Martinelli currently has four goals and two assists in nine Premier League appearances this season.
Martinelli’s New Contract Demands
According to several reports, Arsenal have started talks with Martinelli’s representatives over a new contract renewal.
The young starlet’s current form has provided them with enough advantage to initiate a long-term contract. Martinelli’s current deal which earns him a reported £90,000-per-week runs until June 2024.
Martinelli is reportedly demanding a pretty enormous pay increase to £200,000-per-week in order to re-sign with the club.
This comes to a staggering £110,000 weekly rise which would make him the club’s second highest-paid player.
Martineli is definitely a great player, but he hasn’t been around for too long in the Premier League to prove to be one of the best. Whether or not will Arsenal will take such a huge risk and sign the player is uncertain.

The Gunners Have Some Work To Do
If indeed the Gunners decide to meet steep demands Martinelli is making, it would take him Arsenal’s second highest-paid star. He would stand at level with Partey and even go above Zinchenko, which doesn’t add to his chances.
However, aside from all the drama, a careful assessment of all the salaries on the Gunners’ roster shows that the club are clearly in for a lot of negotiating over the coming months.
For example, Saliba and Saka who have been the standouts for the club so far this season only earn wages of about £40,000 and £30,000-per-week currently. This will probably undergo changes over the coming months.
The pressure is on for Arsenal to manage things correctly. Arteta’s men are currently doing everything right on the pitch so far. It’s now up to the board to do their part in keeping the pace.
