Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta has revealed insight into the status of Kieran Tierney after the Scotsman got injured during the Gunners’ 1-0 success over Burnley at Turf Moor on September 18, 2021.

Injury Reason: Tierney got injured at the 74th minute of the game after a fierce knock. Tierney started getting cramps and was later replaced by Nuno Tavares. In five starts for Arsenal at the Premier League this year, he has been substituted twice due to injuries.

After the game, Arteta told the media in his post-match interview: “Tierney had an issue. I think he was having cramps. The pitch was quite troublesome today.”

Return Date: Arsenal is hoping that Kieran Tierney would be fit for their important game against Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday, September 26, 2021.

Thomas Partey (Midfielder)

Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey was substituted during the match against Burnley due to an injury. This was Partey’s first match after recovering from a previous injury he got during a friendly against Chelsea. Thomas Partey has battled with plenty of injury issues since his transfer from Atletico Madrid in October 2020.

Injury Reason: Partey began the game against Burnley but he started limping during the 75th minute and was replaced by Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Notwithstanding, Arteta guaranteed the fans that it was not much.

In his post-match session, he said: “He battled toward the end. He was squeezing however that will come since he’s missed quite a while. He needs some wellness back.”

Return Date: There is no confirmation as to when will Partey return as the Ghanaian vice-captain just recovered from an ankle injury.

Mohamed Elneny (Midfielder)

The 29-year-old midfielder from Egypt was unable to play the game against Burnley on September 18.

Return Date: Elneny will apparently return around September 26, which means he might be present for the crucial clash against Spurs if he has a speedy recovery.

Suspended Player For Arsenal

Granit Xhaka (Midfielder)

The Swiss midfielder is completing a three-match suspension at the moment following a straight red card for a vicious foul against Manchester City last month where Arsenal lost 5-0.

Adding to his suffering, Xhaka tested positive for Covid-19 making him miss Switzerland’s matches. The 28-year-old is now in the UK and has started training. His suspension will end after the upcoming match against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup on September 23, 2021.

Return Date: As the suspension will end in three days, Granit Xhaka will be available for the match against Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.
