The Norwegian ace has the advantage after the opening round of the two-match finals, winning 2.5-0.5. To go to the blitz tie-break in the final, the Indians must now win the second four-game match.
In the first round, Carlsen was in command and defeated his opponent with white pieces in 40 moves. The Norwegian increased the ante and won in 29 moves in the second game.

Who Is Arjun Erigaisi?
Arjun Erigaisi is a well-known Indian chess grandmaster. He has been in the news because he has been defeated by World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in the opening game of the Julius Baer Generation Cup fast online chess competition.
He was born on September 3, 2003, in Warangal, Telangana, India. His father’s name is Dr. E. Srinivas Rao who is a neurosurgeon and his mother’s name is E. Jyothi who is a housewife. He also has one sister whose name is Keerthana.
He did his schooling at Shine High School, Hanmakonda. He later attended an unknown college where he studied a bachelor of data science. However, before completing his degree, he dropped out of college.
His height is 161 cm or 5 ft 5 inches. Currently, he is 19 years old.
His Career
Arjun Erigaisi took home a silver medal from the Asian Youth Championship in Korea in 2015. He became the first grandmaster of the state of Telangana in 2018. He had a successful year in 2021 as the first Indian to qualify for the Goldmoney Asian Rapid of the Champions Chess Tour 2021.
At the Junior U21 Round Table Open Chess Championship (Classical), which was held in Bulgaria in October 2021, Arjun finished in second place. Along with Alexey Sarana, he scored 7/9. Arjun won the Rapid division of the Tata Steel India Chess Tournament (Rapid and Blitz) in December 2021.
Arjun Erigaisi won the Tata Steel Chess 2022 Challengers in January 2022. He was named the Indian National Champion in March 2022 after taking first place in the 58th MPL National Championship of India 2022 with an overall score of 8.5/11. He also won the 19th Delhi Open in March.
