To make sure that Guler’s arrival would work with the club’s current financial circumstances, Barcelona had planned to pay half of Guler’s release clause now and the other part next summer. Guler, though, has changed his mind and chosen to join Barcelona’s rivals instead. According to The Athletic, the last round of negotiations will be concluded this week.
Real Madrid is expected to pay more than the 18-year-old’s £15 million release clause to complete the move. The LaLiga giants have also agreed to Fenerbahce’s 20% sell-on clause.
In 2019, Guler transferred from Gencerbirligi’s youth programme to Fenerbahce. He has played in 51 games and scored nine goals since making his senior debut in 2021. During the 2022–2023 season, the 18-year-old youngster added 12 assists to his stats and assisted his team in capturing the Turkish Cup.
