Notably, Rekha is expected to take the oath of office on February 20 at 11:00 am, following her election victory from Shalimar Bagh and her longstanding contributions to the BJP’s state and national leadership. Rekha Gupta emerged victorious in the recent Delhi Assembly election, securing the Shalimar Bagh seat with an impressive margin of nearly 30,000 votes.
Reports suggest that Gupta was among several prominent Delhi BJP leaders considered frontrunners for the Chief Minister’s position. Other notable contenders for the role reportedly included Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi BJP general secretary Ashish Sood, former Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, and senior leaders Satish Upadhyay and Jitendra Mahajan.
