Anthony Joshua will be starting a new chapter in his career.

Joshua, a former two-time world champion, will be looking to defeat American Franklin in order to start a new chapter in his career. It is a change of pace for Joshua because it is his first fight since 2016 that is not a world title fight and because it marks his return to London’s O2 Arena following seven previous fights there.

The bout is being marketed as a “New Dawn” for “AJ,” who hopes to rebuild himself in preparation for a future world title chance within the next 18 months. In 2012, “AJ” won a gold medal for Team GB. Derrick James has replaced Robert Garcia as his new trainer for the bout.

The event is being promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, and DAZN subscribers may watch the fight live without having to pay for a pay-per-view. It is hardly AJ’s biggest fight, though, and the payout is not anticipated to come close to the rumoured £33 million he received for taking on Usyk in August of last year.

According to Sports Lens, 29-year-old Franklin is set to receive approximately £800,000 for Saturday’s main event against Joshua but however, it is reported that the figure could rise to above £1million when factoring in sponsorship deals and a potential Franklin victory.

Meanwhile, Joshua is said to be on course to earn roughly £10m for the fight.

Date, time, place, and ring walks

In the O2 Arena in London, where Joshua vs Franklin will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023, ticket sales have been abnormally slow by AJ’s regular standards. Before the main card at 7 o’clock in the evening, the early undercard on “Before the Bell” begins at 3:40 o’clock BST.

Ring walks for the main event are scheduled to begin at precisely 10:41 p.m. As always, those times are subject to change based on how long the fights in the undercard are.
