Since its start, Shark Tank India season 2 has been getting many kinds of reactions, from positive to negative. While many people criticized the show because of Ashneer Grover’s absence, others appreciated it for featuring various kinds of startups that come from different walks of life.

Among them is Angrakhaa, a clothing brand that aims to provide the latest fashion in women’s clothing in all sizes. It all happened because Shark Namita Thapar, the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, spoke candidly about experiencing body shaming during a presentation by the creators of Angrakhaa.

She continued by inquiring as to why they preferred to concentrate on all sizes rather than create a unique brand for plus-sized ladies.

Asan Riamey and Vishakha Bhaskar founded it in 2018. While Vishakha is a creative co-founder of the brand and looks after all aesthetics for the feed, website, and collection, Asana, another co-founder, looks after all technical things related to the company.

The company has more than 12,000 satisfied clients who have used its products throughout the years.

Its pitch on Shark Tank India 2

When discussing the presentation, the founders of Angrakhaa talked about the industry’s “fat tax,” which refers to the practice of charging plus-sized clients exorbitant prices, in addition to their focus on an inclusive brand. The founders want to promote size inclusion by normalizing sizes rather than stigmatizing them.

The creators of Angrakhaa talked about their sales, saying that they increased from Rs 14 lakhs in the 2019–2020 fiscal year to Rs 1.16 crores in the previous fiscal year. At the conclusion of their pitch, they requested a 40 lakh rupee investment for 5% equity from the sharks.

The sharks were taken aback by the sales figures, but Peyush Bansal asked them to reconsider whether they needed funding or not, and Thapar and Aman Gupta withdrew on the grounds that their marketing strategy was unclear.

Anupam Mittal withdraws as well, claiming that the lack of a USP makes it difficult to grow this company. However, in order to assist them in improving their sales, Amit Jain offers them a package that includes Rs 40 lakh and 20% stock, along with further digital marketing advice. The founders finally agree to this agreement.
