Prediction

Rublev has already won three championships this year and proceeded to the US Open and French Open quarterfinals. In the opening round of the Gijon Open, he defeated top seed Ilya Ivashka with scores of 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. The Russian then overcame Tommy Paul, the fifth-seeded player, 7-5, 6-3, moving on to face Dominic Thiem in the quarterfinals. He overthrew the Austrian 6-4, 6-4 to go to the championship match.

Meanwhile, Korda defeated Jaume Munar in the Gijon Open first round with a score of 6-4, 6-1. To advance to the quarterfinals, he overcame third-seeded Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. In the last eight, he defeated Andy Murray by winning the first set 6-4. In the second set, the former World No. 1 got out to a strong start and won it 6-1 to force a decider. The fourth set, however, was completely dominated by Korda, who won it 6-1 to advance to the semifinals where he won 7-6(2), 6-3 over Arthur Rinderknech to progress to the season finale and set a match against Rublev.

Expect a better consequence. One may perceive a very high level of shot making because Korda and Rublev are both powerful baseline hitters. Rublev’s week’s toughest assignment came from Korda because of his consistent excellence in the tennis court. Despite playing former World No. 3 Dominic Thiem in the semifinals, Rublev hasn’t really been tested in his last two matches. However, it seems like he’ll need to play better if he wants to take home the trophy.

Korda is more concerned because Rublev is substantially more reliable off the ground and is probably the more powerful of the two off the ground. Korda has a chance to win this match, which should be close, especially if he can thwart Rublev’s occasionally shaky second serve. But Rublev ought to still have just enough to prevail in a close match.
