The State Sentence Remission Council’s approval to release all 27 inmates, who are housed in various prisons around the state, served as the basis for the state law department’s order. In a ruling on April 10, the Bihar government removed “murder of a public servant on duty” from the list of offenses that would prevent an accused person from being eligible for early parole.
Anand Mohan’s release has sparked political backlash not only in the state but also in neighboring UP, where former chief minister and leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati has dubbed the action “anti-Dalit” and urged the government to “reconsider its decision,” regardless of the “compulsions.”

Anand Mohan Singh is a former politician and a convicted criminal. He has been in the news because he was released from jail after the Bihar government amended the state’s jail manual.
He was born on January 28, 1954, in Pachgachhia village in Saharsa district, Bihar. His family is the Tomar Rajput family. He is married, and his wife’s name is Lovely Anand who is also a politician. He has three children, including Chetan Anand, who is also a politician and a daughter named Surbhi.
He is currently 68 years old.

His career
Anand Mohan Singh became involved in politics as a result of Jayaprakash Narayan’s Sampoorna Kranti campaign. He joined the Samta Party initially. He has been an MLA in the Bihar Legislative Assembly and a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha.
However, he is also a notorious criminal. He has been accused of many previous offenses, many of which have been dropped or have led to his acquittal.
Together with six other people, including his wife, Lovely Anand, he was charged with the 1994 murder of Dalit district magistrate G. Krishnaiah. In 2007, he was given a death sentence for aiding and abetting the crime, but in 2008, the penalty was changed to a strict life sentence.
Although he is imprisoned, he has helped his wife run for office and is still seen as an important politician. His son is also an MLA from the RJD. He also started his own party, the Bihar People’s Party. However, that party has now become dysfunctional. Since 1998, he has been associated with the Rashtriya Janata Party.
