Amit Kumar Saroha hails from Haryana and was born on 12 January in the year 1985 and has taken part in three Paralympics along with also being an Asian Para Games medalist

Amit Kumar Saroha has been honored with the Arjuna Award and he is seen competing in the F51 category in the Discus throw and Club throw. Amit Kumar is a super talented player and is also listed in the list of India’s top Para athletes.

Saroha is the first quadriplegic who made his nation proud at the Paralympic Games held in London in the year 2012. He was instructed and trained by the Sports Authority of India in Sonipat and is being sponsored by the GoSports Foundation. He has taken part in three Paralympics for India.

When Amit Saroha was 22 years old, he suffered a traumatic car accident which made Amit quadriplegic due to compression in his spinal cord. Before Amit Saroha’s injury, he was a national-level professional hockey player. However, Amit as a sportsperson was globally known after his injury as well.

During wheelchair rugby with a Brazilian team, Amit Saroha got the opportunity to interact with numerous other Paralympic players. From all these Para players he learned how the official Paralympic nomenclature can act for his injury.

Later he got listed in the category of F 51. Amit Saroha targeted training in sports that needed upper body strength. He began competing in games such as throw ball and discus throw, since then Amit Saroha hasn’t looked back.

Amit Kumar Saroha won the IPC Athletics World Championship by bagging a Silver medal at the 2017 London Men’s Club Throw in the category of F51. Also, Saroha got a Silver medal in the year 2015 in Doha at Men’s Club Throw in the category of F51.

At the Asian Para Games, he received a Gold medal in the year 2014 at Men’s Club Throw – F51.
