Speaking about his career, the Red Hot Fame singer was known as one of rockabilly’s earliest revivalists. He had made a significant contribution in popularizing the genre in the 1970s to ’80s.

Robert, who was a fan of Elvis Presley in his early childhood, made his recording debut with a band named Confidentials and with them he recorded a number of songs.

In 1970, he moved to New York and joined a Punk rock band named the Tuff Darts. They recorded several tracks including All for the Love of Rock and Roll, Head over Heels, and Slash for Live at CBGB, a compilation album.

During one of the rehearsals, he was spotted by record producer Richard Gottehrer, who suggested that he collaborate with legendary guitarist Link Wray.

In an earlier interview, in 2014, Gordon revealed, “I was doing the rockabilly thing which always seemed to get people off, but I was an angry young man.
