The ending of the last episode reveals that dark secrets always come back to haunt those involved, even if that means your child is suffering from the sins done by you.

However, even after getting the victim that the lake always wanted, season 2 ends up with plenty of unanswered questions about the family. So let’s discuss.

American Horror Stories Season 2 Ending Explained

At the end of the show, Erin and Finn discover that businessman Wrede Prescott chained up several Boone family members to a block.

He had done it because they were protesting against the dam that he wanted to build. A flashback of the time reveals that Wrede left them chained there as the dam filled and the lake formed.

Since then the descendants of Boones’ tried desperately to destroy the dam for nearly 90 years. However, their efforts were always stopped by Spengler and Webber.

Later it was revealed that Jake’s dad, Jeffrey is the leading lawyer on the case and is a Prescott on his mother’s side, which explains their family’s wealth comes from Wrede Prescott’s dam.

A moment later, the lights of the house go out and the zombies start emerging from the lake, taking Jeffrey back underwater with them.

Meanwhile Erin and Finn come to terms with Jeffrey’s family’s crime and the true nature of the lake. Later they decide that the only way to stop these horrors is to tell the world the truth about Prescotts.

Why American Horror Stories’ Lake Victims Took Jeffrey

Erin and Finn realize that the zombies took Jake as a way to bring Jeffrey back to the lake and to finally take their revenge as Jeffrey was seemingly the last descendant of the Prescotts and was protecting their centur-old secrets.

Now as Jeffrey is dead, the litigation against Boones and those who want to destroy the dam to reveal the truth likely won’t be as strong nor there will any further Prescott’s benefitting from Wrede’s murders.

Why Didn’t The Zombies Try To Take Finn Too?

The final episode of the show revealed many mysterious such as the lake wanted to take Jeffrey and Jake because they have Prescott blood but so does Finn have.

Despite that Finn also swam in the lake alongside Jake, but she was never taken, even when zombies came to take Jeffrey they didn’t bother to even see Finn.

The reason behind it might be that she dedicated herself to reveal the truth about her family’s crimes. She also helped to get justice for the hundreds of people who died in the lake.

What’s Next For Finn & Erin After Lake’s Ending

In the ending of the show, Lake left Finn and Erin alive seemingly because the zombies understood that they would reveal the truth about their family.

However, as per Alicia Silverstone’s AHS character explanation, even if the town doesn’t believe them, the truth will come out soon as the water level becomes lower and the corpses will resurface.
