Some of India’s finest badminton players, including PV Sindhu, will compete in the All England Open 2023 BWF Super 1000 tournament from March 14 to March 19.
PV Sindhu’s season this year has been one of the starts and stops. After an extended injury layoff following the Commonwealth Games 2022, Sindhu made her competitive badminton comeback at the Malaysia Open and India Open earlier this year.
However, she was eliminated from both competitions in the first round.

But the two-time Olympic winner will have to put in a lot of effort if she hopes to advance this year at the All-England Open.
Sindhu may need to defeat Zhang Yi Man of China, a competitor she has already lost to, as well as He Bing Jiao and Tai Tzu Ying, the fifth and third seeds in their respective categories, to proceed to the semifinals.
The top seed, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, is in Saina Nehwal’s quarter and she begins her match against Han Yue, the only Indian competing in women’s singles at the All England Open.
In the men’s singles, Lakshya Sen, who reached the 2022 All England Open final, will try to repeat his performance from the year before. However, he must first beat Chou Tien Chen, the fifth seed. In their two prior meetings, Lakshya Sen has never beaten the Chinese Taipei player.
In the opening match of the BWF World Tour 2023, Kidambi Srikanth will compete against Frenchman Toma Junior Popov to make up for his previous lack of success.
Meanwhile, Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei will be the target of HS Prannoy’s clash.
