Alize Cornet is having a fantastic week in Germany. On her way to the semifinal, she defeated Anna Kalinskaya, Tatjana Maria, and former world number one Angelique Kerber. She hasn’t had a notable run since she beat Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, and Tamara Zidansek with ease to advance to the Australian Open quarterfinals this year.
Alize, however, fell into a fairly depressing rut after that, much like Garcia, and ended up dropping out of most of her future competitions. Charleston and the French Open are the exceptions to this rule, as she advanced as far as round three. The 32-year-old, who is now rated No. 44 in the world, entered Bad Homburg with a score of 9–14.
We can expect a tight match between both of them but Cornet is a heavy favourite to win at the tournament.
