Friske defeated Jacqueline Cristian 2-6, 6-2, 7-5

In their first outing, Cristian was aiming for her maiden WTA title, sadly her dreams were crushed by USA’s Friske. It was her 3rd WTA title, the least came in 2017.

The opening set went in Cristian’s favor as she won it ruthlessly and played fearless tennis. The tides turned in the second set when Friske won the second set in a similar manner in which Cristian won the first. She played the same aggressive tennis with fewer unforced errors and won the second set by a margin of 6-2.

There is no denying that the match was an extremely close battle, the championship could have gone to any side of the court, but in the end, the experienced talked and Alison Friske was the name to be inscribed on the trophy.

Winner – N. Dzalamidze and K. Rakhimovas

The Russian pair of N. Dzalamidze and K. Rakhimovas were the better team on the day of finals and comfortably defeated the Chinese pair of Wang Xinyyu / Zheng Saisai.

Wang Xinyu who is considered to be a promising future of singles tennis has been doing great progress in the doubles as well. However, yesterday was not her day as both Wang and Saisai looked offbeat and didn’t manage to win a single set.

It was N. Dzalamidze and K. Rakhimovas’s first title as a pair, they both lost at the finals of Palermo Open but made sure that they emerge as champions from the Linz Open.
