Tragedy struck the NFL community as former Ravens running back, Alex Collins, was killed in a motorcycle crash at the young age of 28 with his crash video and photos viral
The former NFL star, who had a prolific career with the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, lost his life in South Florida on Sunday night.

Collins was riding his motorcycle in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, when it collided with a sport-utility vehicle (SUV), according to a news release by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The impact was so severe that Collins was thrown through a window of the SUV and landed inside the vehicle.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, whose identity has not been disclosed, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Remembering a beloved player
Collins, who played two seasons for Baltimore, rushed for 326 yards and scored 13 touchdowns during his tenure with the Ravens. He was known for his energetic Irish dance celebrations in the end zone after scoring touchdowns.
“Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly,” remembered Ravens head coach John Harbaugh in a heartfelt statement. “He was a great teammate with an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered. He was also a smart player who ran with unlimited determination, contributing to our success during his time in Baltimore. Our deepest condolences go out to Alex’s family. May he rest in God’s eternal peace.”
Alex Collins’ career beyond the NFL
Collins played college football at Arkansas, where he had an impressive record of rushing for over 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons. He’s second only to Darren McFadden on the school’s career rushing list. Collins was part of a memorable play in 2015 at Mississippi when he secured a first down in a crucial overtime situation that eventually led to a 53-52 win for Arkansas.
The Arkansas football account paid tribute on social media, saying, “We are so saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of Alex Collins. He was a legendary Razorback and an even better person. His love for the Razorbacks and desire to be a Hog was undeniable. We will miss him greatly, and our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
After his time with the Ravens, Collins played three seasons for the Seahawks, where he rushed for 973 yards in 2017. Most recently, he played for the Memphis Showboats of the USFL.

The Seahawks released a statement from Collins’ family, which read, “Alex was cherished by his family, friends, and supporters from all around the world. All who truly know him can attest to his drive, determination, and larger-than-life personality. We kindly request your thoughts and prayers for our family during this difficult time.”
