Know the injury update of Alejandro Balde
Alejandro Balde is making headlines after Barcelona has confirmed that Balde will be out for a period of 6-7 weeks after suffering from an ankle injury against Real Mallorca.

Barcelona took to their official Twitter handle and wrote “MEDICAL NEWS | Alejandro Balde has a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament of the right ankle. He will be out approximately between 6 and 7 weeks.”

For those unversed, Balde had to be carried off the pitch at the Camp Nou on Sunday after being the victim of a horrific challenge from Amath Ndiaye, who was shown a straight red card.
Balde appeared to be in pain as he received treatment on his ankle and was eventually carried away by the medical team and Jules Kounde. Barcelona has now provided an update and confirmed the seriousness of the injury.
Balde was replaced by Sergi Roberto with Barcelona leading 1-0 on Ansu Fati’s early goal in the team’s final home game of the season. Fati added another midway through the first half.
Barcelona will finish their season next weekend at Balaidos against Celta Vigo before flying to Japan for a friendly against Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe.
Who’s Alejandro Balde?
If you’re not familiar with Balde, let us tell you, the 19-year-old Left-back whose full name is Alejandro Balde Martnez was born in October 10, 2003. He is a Spanish professional footballer who currently plays for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team.
Balde, who was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, to a Bissau-Guinean father and a Dominican mother, joined FC Barcelona at the age of eight after rising through the ranks at RCD Espanyol. He signed a contract extension with Barcelona until 2024 in July 2021, with a release clause of 500 million euros.
Balde impressed during pre-season in summer 2021, and he started the new season as Jordi Alba’s primary backup at Camp Nou. He sat on the bench for the first game against Real Sociedad and the following match against Athletic Bilbao.
On September 14, 2021, he made his debut for Barcelona’s first team, replacing Alba in the 74th minute of a 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Coach Xavi assigned Balde a more prominent role beginning with the 2022-23 season, starting more league matches than Jordi Alba and receiving more minutes in crucial matches.
