He was born on 29 January 29, 2007, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He did his schooling at Saint Sebastian’s School. His height is 6 feet 7 inches, or 2.01 meters, and his weight is 196 lbs, or 89 kg. He is currently 16 years old.

Dybantsa is currently in the 2026 class, which means he is not yet included in the On3 Industry Rankings, however, On3’s Jamie Shaw currently considers him the No. 1 prospect in all of high school basketball.

Dybantsa’s father, Anicet “Ace” Dybantsa Sr., came to the United States at age 21 and met Dybantsa’s mother, Chelsea. They have three children.

AJ Dybantsa was named the Massachusetts Boys’ Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year after an outstanding first campaign. He was instrumental in helping Saint Sebastian’s win the NEPSAC Class A state title; however, they fell just short against Milton Academy, 77-76. He averaged 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game.

Transitioning to Prolific Prep in Napa, California, he teamed up with the second-ranked 2026 player, Tyran Stokes. In the summer of 2023, Dybantsa excelled, topping the scoring charts in the Nike Peach Jam with a remarkable 25.8 points per game for Expressions Elite, a Boston-based AAU team.

ESPN named him the #1 player in the 2026 class as a result of his extraordinary abilities, and AJ Dybantsa also earned scholarship offers from prominent universities, including Boston College, Providence, Georgetown, UConn, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Alabama, and Washington. Importantly, in July 2023, On3.com ranked him as the best high school athlete in the country.

At the FIBA Under-16 Americas Tournament in Mérida, Mexico, Dybantsa secured a gold medal for the United States on the international stage. He contributed 12 points in the final and maintained an impressive tournament average of 13.8 points.
