This year’s Airthings Masters 2022 chess league phase has seen the completion of semi-final, we take a look at the latest results, standings, table, final schedule, points table

In total, sixteen participants competed in the round-robin stage of the online event, with eight moving on to the knockout stage.

Airthings Masters 2022 Chess Finals Schedule, Date, Time

The event started from February 19 and will run till February 26, with action starting at 18.00 CET every day. The tournament is taking place in online mode due to travel restrictions. Today will be the first day of finals at Airthings Masters as the final showdown will begin.

February 25- February 26- Finals

Day-6 featured the semi-final matches. Players were eager to win and secure their spot in the finals. After a nail-biting series of matches, Nepo and Carlsen managed to qualify for the finals. The first round of final at Airthings masters will begin from 25th February 18:00 CET.

Airthings Masters Chess 2022 Day 6 Semi-Finals Results And Score

In the first semi-final, Ian Nepomniachtchi overcame the challenge of 19-year-old countryman Esipenko. Esipenko managed to squeeze out one win over Nepo but it wasn’t enough to rattle the number one Russian chess player.

In the second, semi-final, Magnus Carlsen won first two rounds against Artmiev and settled the series with a draw to qualify for the final.

The Airthings Masters final will see a repeat of the recent world championship match. Carlsen and Nepo will face off for the first time following Carlsen’s victory in the World Championship match in Dubai.

The quarterfinals and semi-finals are 1-day, 4-game matches, while the final will feature two such matches over two days in which the players will have 15 minutes for all the moves, plus a 10-second increment starting from move 1.

Tournament Rules

Starting with move 1, the players have 15 minutes to complete all of their moves, plus a 10-second increment. A win earns 3 points, while a tie earns 1 point in the preliminary round.

If a tiebreak is necessary, the players will play two 5+3 games and, if necessary, a single Armageddon game, in which White has 5 minutes against Black’s 4, but a tie count as a win for Black. Before move 40, no draw offers are permitted.
