2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 8 – Aimchess Rapid Format, Schedule, Date, Time, & Participants
2022 edition of Aimchess Rapid is the eighth of nine competitions on the $1.6 million 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour and it is scheduled to run from 14th October through October 21. Half of the 16-player field will advance to the next round after culmination four-day round-robin preliminary round. As per tournament format, competition final will be conducted over two days with four matches on each day, in contrast to the quarterfinal and semifinal, which is scheduled over one day and four matches.
During each match, participants will have 15 minutes to execute all of their moves, with each extra move lasting 10 seconds. A victory in the Prelims results in 3 points, and a tie results in 1 point. The players will play two 5+3 games in the case of a tie, followed, if necessary, by one Armageddon game where White has 5 minutes to Black’s 4, but a win for Black counts as a draw. Offers for draws cannot be accepted prior to the conclusion of move 40.

2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 8 – Aimchess Rapid Day 2 Results, Score, Winners, And Latest Standings
Nodirbek Abdusattorov finished Day 1 as sole-leader with 10 out of 12 points but began his second-day in worst possible manner as he lost against Vidit Gujrathi in Round 5 match. However, he quickly bounced back with wins against Gukesh Dommaraju and Pentala Harikrishna and tie against Anish Giri. Following these results, Abdusattorov finished Day 2 on high note and maintained his sole-lead with 17/24 points. Similar to the young leader, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov began his day with a loss—against Vincent Keymer—but then reeled off three straight victories to finish with 16/24 points. After culmination of Day 2 matches, Mamedyarov and Carlsen sit second while Indian ace Arjun Erigaisi is placed fourth alongside Duda with 15/24 points.
On day 2 of Aimchess Rapid, Arjun Erigaisi achieved highest score with 10/12 points after he finished the day with three victories plus one tie from four matches. He also produced higlight performance of day to earn his first-ever triumph over Magnus Carlsen during round seven. Following this stellar performance, Arjun moved up to shared fourth place after his performance on Saturday, two points behind the solo leader Nodirbek Abdusattorov.
