The AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 came to a close on Saturday, 1st January with Thailand being crowned as champions of Southeast Asia, know its prize money, final score and winner
The Thai side has lifted the Southeast Asian trophy yet again for a record sixth-time at the National Stadium in Singapore on Saturday, 1st January.
AFF Suzuki Cup Final 2020 Score, Result And Match Report Thailand vs Indonesia
In the first leg on Wednesday, we witnessed an incredible performance from The War Elephants who humiliated The Garuda 4-0. The second leg saw the latter side hold the now six-time champions to a 2-2 draw but it was too high a ladder to climb for the Indonesians.
Even though the Garuda were much more aggressive and dominant in the second leg, they could not mend the damage suffered by them in the first leg at the hands of an oppressive Thai side led by Chanathip Songkrasin. Thailand were also crowned as champions of the inaugural AFF Cup back in 1996, and since then have won it five time i.e. 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016 and now in 2022 (2020 season).
Indonesia, on the other hand, have been very unlucky in finals as they have finished as runners-up a total of six times. They could not break their finals “curse” of sorts this time as well but hopefully we will see them lift the cup in times to come as they do possess the talent and ability to do so.
Four members of Indonesia’s national squad were absent for the final against Thailand as they were prohibited from participating in the match for flouting Covid-19 safety protocols in Singapore.
The championship saw some great individual performances from players and so without further ado, we take a look at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 award winners right here:
