India, who is in Group G, fell to China 2-1 on Saturday and will take on the UAE on Tuesday at the Dalian Sports Centre Stadium. After the Maldivian football team withdrew from the competition, India’s under-23 team’s opening game versus Maldives was postponed to September 6.
43 teams in total, split into 11 groups, will compete in the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifications. Next year’s 16-team main event, which will take place from April 15 to May 3, will feature the top team from each group in addition to the hosts Qatar. The four top-performing teams from the 11 groups, along with the nations that placed second in their respective groups, will go to Qatar 2024.

The AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 will serve as an Olympic qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Games next year. The top three teams from the main competition will receive automatic admission to the Summer Games of the following year.
AFC U23 Asian Cup is a two-year international football competition. It was initially held in 2013 as the AFC U22 Championship before being changed to the AFC U23 Championship. It is now known as the AFC U23 Asian Cup as of the 2022 edition.
