India has been placed alongside Japan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan for the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup, know its schedule and draw
The Indian football team’s season will get underway against Vietnam. The four semifinalists will be given tickets to the November 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
The AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 football competition, which is set to take place from June 15 to July 2 in Bangkok, Thailand, has placed the Indian football team in Group D alongside three-time champions Japan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.

The draw was made public on Thursday by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). India’s 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup campaign will get underway against Vietnam.
“With the group, we were given during the draw, we are all excited. The boys are quite excited since we will be competing against some top-notch opponents. Every football player wants to compete against the greatest, and Japan is undoubtedly one of Asia’s best,” Bibiano Fernandes, the head coach, remarked.
India will be participating for the 9th time.
India will be participating in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, formerly the AFC U-16 Championship and AFC U-17 Championship, for the ninth time. India’s best results in the age-group competition have been quarterfinal finishes in 2002 and 2018.
Malaysia, Laos, and Yemen will all be in Group A with the host nation Thailand. South Korea, a two-time champion, is in Group B with Iran, Afghanistan, and Qatar. Tajikistan is grouped with China, Australia, and Saudi Arabia in Group C.
Format and venues
Each of the four groups will consist of four teams. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds, which include the semifinals, final, and quarterfinals. The four semifinalists will secure berths in the November 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
The event will take place in the Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi, the Thammasat Stadium and BG Stadium in Pathum Thani, and the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
