The Asian Football Confederation hosts an annual continental club football competition known as the AFC Cup (AFC), know the all time winners list
The competition is now contested mostly amongst teams from countries that did not secure direct qualifying spots in the top-tier AFC Champions League, as determined by the AFC Club Competitions Ranking.

With three championships apiece, Al-Kuwait SC and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya are the most successful clubs in the competition’s history. Kuwaiti clubs have won four titles, giving them the competition’s most successful nation. Since the competition’s inception in 2004, West Asian teams have dominated the competition’s finals, with the exception of 2011 and 2015, when Uzbekistani side FC Nasaf from Central Asia and Malaysian team Johor Darul Ta’zim from Southeast Asia were crowned winners in their respective years.
After beating FC Nasaf in 2021 final, Al-Muharraq is the current champion. Since the 2021 season, teams who win the AFC Cup have been eligible to compete in the AFC Champions League qualification playoffs if they have not qualified through domestic performance.
Format Details:
For the 2017 AFC Cup, some modifications were made in terms of teams and format. In the group stage, a total of 36 teams compete (12 each from West Asia and ASEAN, and 4 each from East Asia, Central Asia, and South Asia). The championship match will be a one-off event.
The Allocation:
The AFC Cup has reached the group stage with teams from 27 AFC countries. The distribution of those teams by member nation is detailed below; asterisks indicate instances when at least one team was eliminated in the group stage qualification process. Teams from 34 AFC countries competed in qualifying (including Brunei and Timor-Leste, who will compete for the first time in 2020); those that did not advance to the group stage but only participated in qualification are not bolded.
