The AFC Champions League 2023-24 draw will be streamed live in India starting at 1:30 PM IST. This will be the 21st edition of Asia’s premier football club competition, with 40 teams split into 10 groups of four.
Ten teams will be divided into two groups: five from the West Zone (groups A to E) and five from the East Zone (groups F to J). Starting in the round of 16, the top teams from each group and the three best second-place teams from each zone advance to the knockout rounds.
Al Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), Persepolis (Iran), Al Sadd (Qatar), and Pakhtakor (Uzbekistan) are all put in pot 1 from the West Zone together with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, who fell to Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds in the final last year.
Positioned in pot 3 (West Zone) is Mumbai City FC of India, which earlier this year took home the Indian Super League Shield. The Indian football team will take part in the AFC Champions League for the second time in a row. Mumbai City FC created history a year ago when they won the AFC Champions League for the first time ever as an Indian team. They were unable to proceed because they finished fifth among the second-placed teams in all groups.
The group stages of the AFC Champions League 2023–24 will start on September 18. In order to advance to the knockout stages, each team will play the other three teams from their group twice starting in February of the following year. In May 2024, two legs of the AFC Champions League 2023–24 final will be played.
