Adinath Kothare spoke about his time shooting for the 83 movie and what Dilip Vengsarkar had told him about his injury during the India vs West Indies match
The much awaited 83 movie on the heroics of the legendary 1983 Indian cricket team is finally out. The movie which sees Ranveer Singh play Kapil Dev, a player who is till date touted as the finest all-rounder India has ever produced in the cricket fraternity dwells into the Indian team’s triumph at the world cup.
Transforming cricket forever, the world cup winning team not defied all odds to take home the glistening trophy but also sparked an era of dominance in world cricket. And the 83 Bollywood movie goes onto details India’s travails in England and its historic win against West Indies in the showpiece final.
Adinath Kothare Talks About Dilip Vengsarkar And The Injury He Suffered During The ’83 CWC
While the movie is already centered around Kapil Dev, his peers are also featured in the movie. And Marathi actor Adinath Kothare who played Dilip Vengsarkar in the movie talked about his experience whilst shooting the movie, what it was like working during the COVID-19 pandemic along with dwelling upon what he was told by Vengsarkar himself.
Vengsarkar who was injured during India’s second match of the marquee tournament against West Indies ended up missing his side’s ensuing matches as he was rendered to the injury bed. However, it wasn’t due to a lack of resilience and valour from Vengsarkar with Adinath opening up on how the cricketer was itching to take to the pitch despite being knackered.
โWhen I asked him about the incident, he smile and told me that โI wanted to play yaar. I didnโt care about the injuryโ. Itโs just that the doctors didnโt allow him. I was just amazed at how rough and tough they are. They truly were cut out of a different cloth,” Adinath said.
