Adidas replaces Nike to become Al Nassr new shirt sponsor and here is all you need to know about their new deal
Al Nasar has collaborated with Adidas replacing Nike to be their new sponsor despite their star player Cristiano Ronaldo’s $1 billion contract with rival brand Nike.
Adidas set to become Al Nassr FC jersey, kit and shirt sponsors from 2024-25 season
There were tensions between Ronaldo and the clothing apparel Nike when the former Real Madrid star was seen sporting rival club adidas shin guards, back in July.
Nike has sponsored Ronaldo from the beginning of his professional career in 2003. Al Nassr announced on July 2nd that Nike will be their new uniform manufacturer, moving away from their in-house brand, Arabic giants Duneus, just seven months after the five-time Ballon door winner was brought to the Middle East club.
The brand was supposed to supply the club’s uniform after this agreement was signed in July this year, demonstrating its substantial commercial presence. This new agreement was expected to start when the team led by the Portugues star embarked on their Japan Tour at the end of July.
Meanwhile, the new deal of the Saudi Arabian club has proved that the Cristiano Ronaldo effect is real. During Al-Nassr’s friendly game versus Celta Vigo in July of this year, Ronaldo allegedly breached his contract with Nike by donning Adidas shinpads. When many spectators noticed that Ronaldo was using Adidas shinpads throughout the match, there was debate about whether or not the Portugal captain had broken his contract with Nike.
Then presented as “risking a breach of contract,” the agreement eventually materialised into an amazing three-year contract that will begin with the 2024–25 season between Al Nassr and Adidas.
2016 saw the purported signing of a lifetime contract worth a staggering $1 billion (£775 million) with the US sports goods powerhouse.
Al Nassr and Adidas deal details
It is said that Al Nasar has partnered with Adidas for three years and the deal starts next year from 2024 to 2027. As per journalist Ali Alabdallh’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account (translation via Google):
The sponsorship contract will be for 3 years with Al Nassr from 2024 to 2027. God willing.”
