In a statement released Monday morning, the Bengals said that Zimmer had died.
“The Bengals are saddened to learn the devastating news about Offensive Analyst Adam Zimmer,” the statement reads.
Bengals President Mike Brown said: “Our organization has had the privilege of knowing and working with the Zimmer family for 15 years. We have the highest regard for Mike and Adam, and we are incredibly saddened by this tragic news. Mike and Adam were more than just coaches for us – they were friends. Adam Zimmer was an American football coach. He was born on January 13, 1984, and died on October 31, 2022. He was an assistant defensive backs coach and offensive analyst for the Cincinnati Bengals, an assistant linebackers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, and a linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Zimmer was the son of Mike Zimmer, who used to be the head coach of the Vikings.
Zimmer was born in Ogden, Utah, but he grew up in Colleyville, Texas, and went to Heritage High School while his father, Mike Zimmer, was a defensive coach for the Dallas Cowboys. For 35 years, his grandfather, Bill Zimmer, was the football coach at Lockport Township High School. Zimmer knew by the time he was 10 that he wanted to become a football coach like his father and grandfather. From 2002 to 2005, Zimmer was a safety for the Trinity University Tigers football team, where he wore #28.
