French player Abdoulaye Doucoure suffered a foot injury which has caused further concerns for Rafael Benitez’s side, know his injury update and return date
After midfielders Andre Gomez and Fabian Delph, another Everton midfielder, Abdoulaye Doucoure has suffered a severe foot injury. This particular injury has only made matters worse for Rafael Benitez’s Everton, who are going to play against Watford on Saturday.
28-year old Doucoure has been of paramount importance to Benitez this season, having produced two goals and four assists in the Premier League. As compared to last season, the midfielder’s beneficence has been far greater this time, having played 21 games more than in the previous campaign. But after Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to West Ham, it seems Doucoure will only be a spectator from the bench for a while.

Everton let out a statement two days after the midfielder’s injury which said, “Everton can confirm that Abdoulaye Doucoure has suffered a stress response in his foot sustained during Sunday’s match against West Ham United.
“As per further reports, the French midfielder is being assessed by the club’s medical team at USM Finch Farm and is undergoing further investigation in order to discover the full extent of the injury.”
However, the good news is that contrary to certain reports, the player will not have to undergo an operation. With Andre Gomez and Fabian Delph both recovering from injury, Everton’s midfield will not be very strong when they face Watford on Saturday.

Even though the injury does not require surgery, it is severe, which is why Doucoure will be out for the next 42 days i.e. till November 28th, 2021. That means he will be missing 6 games in total for Everton.
