The Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 is just around the corner, know the full list of all the sports this year
This year, the event will take place in Birmingham, UK, from July 28 to August 8. This year’s edition of the CWG will feature the Alexander Stadium, as the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies. As a result, the Alexander Stadium is currently undergoing redevelopment activities.

List of events and sports that will feature in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022
Aquatics
- Diving category: The Aquatics Diving category will take place at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre from August 4 to 8.
- Swimming and Para Swimming category: This event will also take place in the Sandwell Aquatics Centre, Smethwick, starting from 29 July to 3 August.
Athletics and Para Athletics: The Alexander Stadium, where the opening and closing ceremonies will take place, is the same venue that will also host athletic and Para athletic events.
Badminton: All of the badminton events will be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Hall 5.
Basketball 3×3: This event will make its debut appearance at the CWG this year, and it will take place at the Smithfield site.
Beach Volleyball: This event made its debut at the last CWG games on the Gold Coast in 2018. This year, the Smithfield site will host the event.
Boxing: The NEC Hall 4 will conduct all of the badminton events.
Cricket T20: Cricket T20 will make its debut at the CWG Games this year in Birmingham as the first T20 International played by women. The event will take place at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Cycling
- Mountain Bike: The mountain bike race will take place in the Cannock Chase Forest, which is part of Forestry England.
- Road Race: This event will take place in Warwick’s Myton Fields, a green recreation space.
- Time Trial: West Park, an outdoor green recreation space, will hold this edition’s cycling time trials.
- Track and Para Track: Lee Valley Velopark’s indoor cycling facility will host competitions such as the Sprint/Para-Sport Tandem Sprint, Time Trial, Individual Pursuit, Scratch Race, Points Race, Team Sprint, and Kerin Sprint.
Gymnastics
- Artistics
- Rhythmic
The Arena Birmingham will host both the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions.
Hockey: The outdoor pitches at the University of Birmingham will host all of this year’s CWG hockey matches.
Judo: This sport, which was excluded from the 2018 CWG, has been reinstated this year. The Coventry Stadium & Arena’s indoor venue will host the event.
Lawn Bowls and Para Lawn Bowls: Victoria Park, an outdoor green recreation space, will hold the lawn bowls and para lawn bowls competitions.
Netball: The NEC Arena will host the anticipated netball event following England’s victory in the 2018 CWG.
Para Powerlifting: The NEC Hall 1 will host the event.
Rugby Sevens: The Coventry Stadium will host Rugby Sevens.
Squash: The University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre will host the event indoors in the Fitness Centre sports hall.
Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis: Table tennis has been a part of the CWG since 2002. However, para table tennis will mark its debut this year. The NEC’s Hall 3 will host both the events.
Triathlon and Para Triathlon: The triathlon and paratriathlon (PTVI athletes) competitions will be held at Sutton Park as well as on the neighbourhood streets in and around Boldmere High Street in Sutton.
Wheelchair Basketball 3×3: This event will make its debut appearance in the CWG 2022. The event will be held at Smithfield.
Weightlifting: The NEC Hall 1 will host the event.
Wrestling: The event will take place at the Conventry Arena.
