He was the longest-serving PM of Japan. From 2005 to 2006, Abe also served as the Chief Cabinet Secretary under Junichiro Koizumi. Shinzo also played a part briefly as the leader of the opposition in the year 2012.

He was a conservative and has widely been described as a right-wing Japanese. His tenure as the PM of Japan is known internationally for his government’s economic policies, monetary easing, and structural reforms.

He announced his resignation in August 2020 because of his health problems. Shinzo was succeeded by Yoshihide Suga as the PM of Japan.

Incident –

Shinzo was shot in his chest on Friday, July 8, 2022 while he was giving his speech at an event in Western Japan ahead of the Upper House Elections on Sunday, July 10, 2022. His was born in 1954 and died in 2022 aged 67.

According to the Japanese media houses, the former Prime Minister collapsed after being shot and started bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital, where he showed no vital signs. He was shot at around 11:30 A.M. in Nara and a man in his 40s has been arrested by the police as a suspect.

Early Life and Education –

Shinzo was born in Tokyo, Japan in a Prominent political family. His family was economically influenced throughout the pre-second World war, wartime, and post-war. His family was originally from Yamaguchi Prefecture and his registered residence is also in Nagato, Yamaguchi.

Abe has attended the Seikei Elementary School and Seikei Junior and Senior High School. He further studied public administration and got a graduation degree in Political Science from Seikei University in 1977.

He later moved to the U.S. and there he studied public policy at the University of Southern California’ School of Policy, Planning and Development for 3 semesters. After that he started working for Kobe Steel in April 1979 and later he left the company in 1982.

Political Career –

In the year 1993, Shinzo was elected as the Japan’s House of Representatives. Later he became the Director of the Committee of Health and Welfare and also Director of Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) Social Affairs Division in 1999.

From 2002 to 2003, Shinzo served as the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary of the LDP. And later he became the Chief Secretary of LDP In 2005-2006.

In the year 2006, Shinzo Abe became the Prime Minister of Japan for the first time. Later on September 12, 2007, he announced his resignation.

In the year 2012, he won a run-off leadership election for the leader of LDP. He was again elected as the PM of Japan on December 26, 2012. Later in 2020, He again announced his resignation as the Prime Minister of Japan on August 28th.

Personal Life –

Shinzo was married to Akie Matsuzaki in 1987. Akie is a socialite and a former radio disc jockey. She’s also the daughter of the President of Morinaga (a chocolate manufacturer).

Akie is popularly known as the domestic opposition party because of her bold and outspoken views which are often contradictory to her husband’s opinion.
