Jose Alba, a 51-year-old Bodega employee who recently made headlines for fatally stabbing a man named Austin Simon inside the shop, is still widely supported by the public.
He arrived in the US from the Dominican Republic about 30 years ago, and it took him 14 years to become a citizen of the USA.
On Broadway and West 139th Street, he was employed at Hamilton Heights Grocery. By looking at the reports, we can say that he definitely has one daughter and one son in his family. His daughter’s name is Yulissa while his son’s name is Jeffrey who is 27 years old presently.

Austin Simon, a 34-year-old customer, was seen on security footage racing behind the counter to confront Alba over the cost of some snacks during the horrifying event, which happened on Friday, July 1.
When Austin’s girlfriend attempted to purchase a bag of chips for her 10-year-old kid, they reportedly got into a fight. Her EBT debit card was rejected. Less than 10 minutes into the chat, the woman said that Alba pulled the bag of chips away and she hurried home to get Austin, who jumped behind the counter and assaulted Alba.
The argument quickly escalates and becomes physical as Austin pushes Alba. Alba quickly seizes a knife and begins stabbing Austin who consequently died.
Additionally, according to Alba’s defence counsel, Austin’s girlfriend stabbed Alba in the shoulder with a knife that she was carrying in her purse. Although, she is still free.
Talking with the media, Alba’s family asserted that he is not the type of person who can simply stab someone without cause and justified his actions as being done in self-defence.
The family’s remarks provide credence to the video footage that shows Austin brutally standing over Alba while also slamming him into a wall.
On the other hand, Austin, the victim, was already out on parole after assaulting a police officer. Additionally, he has been arrested 8 times before, including for robbery, assault, and violence during a domestic quarrel.
If Alba was convicted, he would have to spend two years in jail.
