Even before the main program began, a reporter briefly held Diaz and inquired about his support for rising bantamweight O’Malley. A fervent Nah said, “Diaz, You’d best watch what you post about my man who recently got into a fight.”
After the reporter finished speaking, Diaz smacked the headset out of his hands in a furious moment. The Stockton baseball player continued by knocking the reporter’s cap off his head.
“Bro never really said nothing nasty or harsh,” one person said.
“Shouldn’t have said s**t about him,” said a second.
Diaz, 37, hasn’t stepped foot on the inside of the arena since losing to Leon Edwards at UFC 263.
The former lightweight championship contender has been itching to compete in his last match under the promoter’s agreement, but nothing has been scheduled.
Diaz has reportedly set his sights on a boxing battle with Jake Paul and has frequently requested the UFC brass to schedule him or remove him from his contract.
Late this month, Tyron Woodley, the winner of season 5 of The Ultimate Fighter, started tweeting: “UFC released now pls or give me battle with anybody in July or August.”
Nate Diaz delivered the blow on Shawny Mack, an interviewer for Full Send MMA, received a smack after asking the UFC fighter whether he was there to watch Sean O’Malley participate.
The interview ended quickly. Diaz instantly instructed the interviewer to check out what he stated online on Twitter. Wonder if these are the kind of people Diaz will be sparring against next in the UFC as well or if he has some real cajones to go up against the best.
