An altercation that led police to pursue criminal charges went viral online.

The New York Post first uploaded the black-and-white video, which appears to be from a shop security camera. Since then, other people and media outlets have reposted it, resulting in many postings receiving millions of views.

Giuliani was seen from behind the camera.

The former mayor is seen in the video standing in the middle of a crowd of around six people inside the grocery store. When the employee in the influenza mask approaches from behind. And pretends to smack him on the shoulder with his dominant wrist as he passes.

As Giuliani and the employee appeared to exchange pleasantries. A woman standing on his immediately left responded by patting the 78-year-old on back which he was smacked.

The event happened inside `ShopRite on the South Coast, which is situated at 3010 Veterans Road West. Around 3:25 in the afternoon.

The employee, identified by police as Daniel Gill, 39, of the 3400 block of Amboy Road in Oakwood, was charged with a massive attack. On Monday, his arraignment is anticipated to take place at St. George’s Prosecution.
