Newly selected NBA draught players from the next generation have lofty goals with Bennedict Mathurin taking no time is comparing himself to LeBron James
The young players have been introduced to the media just days after the draught, and some of them couldn’t be more assured.
Some of them already regard themselves as among the finest ever, or at least better than some of the current stars, due to a combination of youth, probably a lack of self-awareness, and an abundance of self-confidence.
Bennedict Mathurin Says He’s Better Than LeBron James
Bennedict Mathurin, a draught choice of the Indian Pacers, already possesses a large frame.
Mathurin believes he is the finest basketball player in the world despite having never participated in an NBA game. In fact, he was so upset about the decision that he specifically mentioned LeBron James to reporters.
“Many people think he’s fantastic. I want to witness his greatness. Nobody, in my opinion, is superior to me. LeBron will have to prove to me that he is superior to me,” Mathurin stated.
It goes without saying that confidence is admirable and necessary, but it’s difficult to miss the fact that by immediately drawing comparisons to LeBron James, Benedict Mathurin is setting himself up to be exposed.
Mathurin averaged 17.7 points and was largely recognised as the Pac-12’s top player during his final season with the Arizona Wildcats. Yes, the Pacers should be pleased with their selection in the draught. But Bennedict Mathurin’s criticism of LeBron James was, to put it mildly, incredibly audacious.
