On Saturday, No. 14 seed Petra Kvitova defeated No. 8 seed and defending champion Jelena Ostapenko with a score of 6-3, 6-2 to win the Rothesay International title and the 29th WTA singles championship of her career.
The two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova is currently 5-1 in grass-court finals. The Czech’s only other defeat on a grass court occurred in the 2011 Eastbourne final, where she lost to Marion Bartoli in a matchup of future Wimbledon champions.

On the Eastbourne lawns, Ostapenko’s nine-match winning streak came to a stop. The former French Open champion played well, striking 21 winners to 19 unforced errors, but she was broken three times and never got a grasp on Kvitova’s left-handed serve.
