The former player died on Wednesday (June 22), according to his broadcast agent Jim Ornstein, who confirmed the death today, June 23. His cause of death was not immediately available. According to the Associated Press, Ornstein stated, “This is a very sad day.” Tony was more than just a client; he was family. “My heart goes out to Tony’s family.”

Tony Siragusa Was Who?
Siragusa was born in New Jersey in 1967 and began his college football career with the University of Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh Panthers. According to the 2004 book Tales from the Pittsburgh Panthers, he was a starting defensive tackle in his sophomore and junior seasons (1986 and 1987) under head coach Mike Gottfried.
According to the player’s 2012 biography, Siragusa suffered an injury to his left anterior cruciate ligament that required surgery and forced him to miss the 1989 season; as a result, he was undrafted in 1990.
Despite being undrafted, he was signed as a defensive tackle by the Indianapolis Colts. Siragusa signed with the Baltimore Ravens, the team for which he is best known, in 1997.
He went on to help the Ravens to a record-breaking season, allowing the fewest points of any team in regular-season play. The Ravens went on to win Superbowl XXXV in 2000. “There was no one like Goose — a warrior on the field and a team unifier with a giving, generous heart who helped teammates and the community more than most people know,” said Brian Billick, the coach of that 2000 team.

The Super Bowl champion retired from football in 2001 and went on to pursue a career in television. He has appeared in films such as 25th Hour and The Sopranos as a supporting actor. Siragusa also hosted the DIY Network show Man Caves.
