The Tamil Nadu Premier League will be in its sixth season in 2022, which is set to take place from June 23 through July 31, 2022. The defending champions are the Chepauk Super Gillies, who won their third title the previous season.

Tamil Nadu Premier League History, Sponsorship, And Other Details
The Tamil Nadu Premier Competition (TNPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India that was founded in 2016 by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni kicked off the inaugural season, which was won by Tuti Patriots. In 2019, two franchises were suspected of match manipulation, resulting in the dismissal of co-owners. Both franchises, however, stayed in the league. It is one of India’s regional elite cricket leagues.
The Tamil Nadu franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings, was facing a two-year suspension from the league when the TNPL was formed in 2016. The league was created to compensate for the lack of high-profile matches in Chennai during the year and to promote strong district players. It was launched by N. Srinivasan, the then-TNCA president, who is also the owner of Chennai Super Kings and India Cements, the TNPL’s first title sponsor.

TNPL has aired for five seasons. Chepauk Super Gillies, the current winners, are also the most successful team, having won the title in 2017, 2019, and 2021. Salem Spartans (Tuti Patriots) in 2016 and Siechem Madurai Panthers in 2018 are the other teams to have won the title.

Tamil Nadu Premier League Prize Money
The champion of the tournament is set receive a huge amount of 1 Crore INR while the runner-up will bag 60 Lac INR. Further, both semi-finalists will earn 40 Lac INR each, Due to the lucrative prize money, all the teams and players will be motivated to perform their best and win the tournament.
