Career
Kompany began his professional career at Anderlecht, where he spent three seasons as a first-team player after graduating from their junior system. In 2006, he moved to Bundesliga club, Hamburg. In the summer of 2008, he signed a contract with Manchester City of the Premier League.
He quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team and was regarded as one of the best bargain bargains of the new City era, developing into one of the league’s best centre-backs. In the 2011–12 season, he was named City captain, and he led his team to their first Premier League title in 44 years. Kompany was named to the Premier League Team of the Year for the second year in a row in 2011 and 2012, as well as the 2014 team, and earned the Premier League Player of the Season in 2012. He is widely regarded as one of England’s top defenders.
He revealed in May 2019 that he would quit City after his contract expired in June 2019, after 11 years with the club. He joined the player-manager of Anderlecht of the Belgian First Division A on July 1st, the same club where he began his professional playing career.
