In 2009, he started Chai Pani in Asheville, North Carolina, and then in 2017, he founded Spicewalla, a company that delivers fresh flavors to restaurants and also home cooks. While his exact age isn’t known, he is said to be aged between 40-45 years.

He relocated to San Francisco once he earned his MBA at the University of South Carolina. Sitting at a desk selling commodities over the telephone seemed like a terrible idea and he noticed an advertisement for a Lexus business and worked there for twelve years.

In 2009, Irani quit his day job in sales to open his first restaurant– Chai Pani, an authentic Indian street food joint in downtown Asheville and his restaurants have been written up in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, GQ, Food & Wine, Men’s Health, USA Today, and Bon Appetit. His mother still lives in India while his wife Molly Irani is his co-partner.

Molly grew up in the restaurant business as her parents owned a popular & award winning restaurant in Myrtle Beach, SC and her mom is an accomplished pastry chef and restaurateur.
