When Wimbledon 2022 begins on June 27, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will switch her attention to grass after a dominant run on hard courts and clay.

Swiatek, who is 21 years old, is now on a 35-match winning streak, which is tied for the longest this century with Venus Williams. Her most recent victory resulted in a second Roland Garros crown last week. She is the most popular player on the entrance list for The Championships, where she won the girls’ singles title in 2019.

Swiatek made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time last year, but lost in three sets against Ons Jabeur.

Petra Kvitova (2011, 2014), Garbie Muguruza (2017), Angelique Kerber (2018), and Simona Halep (2019) are all former Wimbledon champions (2019).

Serena Williams, the seven-time champion, currently ranked No.1223, and Venus Williams, the five-time champion, currently rated No.571, did not join the tournament using their protected rankings but Serena will enter as a wild card.

Sofia Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion, has entered via a protected ranking. Due to an ankle ailment, the American has not participated since Indian Wells in March.

There are a total of twelve Grand Slam champions on the field. Naomi Osaka, Bianca Andreescu, Jelena Ostapenko, Barbora Krejcikova, and Sloane Stephens are among the players. Emma Raducanu, the reigning US Open winner, will also return to the course where she made her fourth-round breakthrough last year.

Coco Gauff, who lost in the Roland Garros final to Swiatek, is also slated to compete. In both of her previous All England tournaments (2019 and 2021), she advanced to the fourth round.

Two past Wimbledon finals, 2014 runner-up Eugenie Bouchard, who has not competed since March 2021 due to shoulder surgery and has qualified via protected ranking, and last year’s runner-up Karolina Pliskova, are also on the entrance list.

Anett Kontaveit, Maria Sakkari, Ons Jabeur, Paula Badosa, Jessica Pegula, and Danielle Collins, who are currently in the Top 10, have also entered.
