Wout van Aert, a professional cyclist, was humiliated in the third stage of the Critérium du Dauphine this week due to an untimely celebration.

The 27-year-old Belgian professional road and cyclocross racer established a late lead into the final straight and raced away from the chasing pack, only to celebrate before crossing the finish line.

Van Aert instantly realized his error as David Gaudu stole the stage victory, leaving the commentary team stunned at the inexperience of the experienced three-time Cyclo-cross World Championships winner.

“It was a rookie error,” Van Aert admitted to Sporza.
