Qatar Airways has become one of the companies which the Twitter users want to boycott in India as the company belongs to middle-east. One of the Twitter users said that “Please tell us the name of companies like Qatar, Arab, Iran, etc., which we can ban in our country.” Earlier, the Ministry of the Qatar Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian ambassador, Dr. Deepak Mittal.
They handed him an official note, expressing disappointment and condemnation of the controversial remarks made by an official in the ruling party in India. These remarks were against Prophet Muhammed.
According to media reports, it is also reported that along with Qatar, other middle-eastern countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Kuwait also condemned the remarks made by Nupur Sharma on the Prophet Muhammed. Hence people are in favor of banning companies hailing from these nations.
Moreover, Qatar Airways and the IndiGo recently reactivated their codeshare partnership after India resumed regular international passenger flights on March 27th. In IndiGo in November 2019 signed the codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways.
On the 19th of April, their joint statement stated, “As part of this expanded code-share agreement, Qatar Airways will be placing the marketing code on the IndiGo operated flights between Doha and Delhi, and including Mumbai, Hyderabad, starting from April 25th, and Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kozhikode, starting from May 9th.”
