Daniel Joseph Ricciardo (born July 1, 1989) is an Italian-Australian racing driver who presently competes for the McLaren Formula One team under the Australian flag in the FIA Formula One World Drivers Championship in 2022.

Daniel Joseph Ricciardo was born to Italian-Australian parents on July 1, 1989, in Perth, Western Australia and is aged 32 at the moment. Giuseppe “Joe” Ricciardo, his father, was born in Ficarra (Messina) but moved to Australia with his family when he was only seven years old. Grace Ricciardo, Ricciardo’s mother, was born in Australia but came from Casignana’s family (Calabria). Michelle is Ricciardo’s sister.

Heidi Berger is the girlfriend of the Italian racer Daniel Ricciardo and is a TV actress by profession. She is the daughter of the racer Gerhard Berger who is a 10-time Grand Prix winner with her mother Ana Corvo a former model.

Ricciardo remembers his father racing at the adjacent Barbagallo Raceway in Wanneroo when he was a kid growing up in Duncraig, one of Perth’s northern suburbs. Newman College was his high school. At the age of nine, he began karting.

Career

Ricciardo debuted with the HRT squad at the 2011 British Grand Prix as part of an agreement with Red Bull Racing’s sister team Scuderia Toro Rosso, for whom he was testing. The driver number for Ricciardo is 3. In Formula One, he’s won eight times.

Ricciardo joined Toro Rosso full-time in 2012 after the team’s driver roster was revised, and he drove a Ferrari-powered car for the team in 2012 and 2013.

Later on was promoted to Red Bull in 2014 as a replacement for the departed Mark Webber, who was replaced by Sebastian Vettel, a multiple-time world champion. He won his first three Formula One races in Canada, Hungary, and Belgium in his debut season with Red Bull under Renault’s sponsorship.

Ricciardo won the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix after a two-year drought and finished third in the championship for the second time in three years in the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix.

Since then, he’s won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2017, as well as the Chinese and Monaco Grand Prix in 2018. Ricciardo joined Renault after the 2018 season and raced for them in 2019 and 2020. In 2021 and 2022, he joined McLaren alongside Lando Norris for the Formula One seasons. At the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, he took his maiden race win with McLaren. In the Australia Day Honours of 2022, Ricciardo was named a Member of the Order of Australia after the 2021 season.
