2022 FIH Hockey 5s Women’s Tournament History, New Format, And Participating Teams
The Hero FIH Hockey5s Lausanne 2022 event is the International Ice Hockey Federation’s first official senior World Hockey5s competition, and it builds on the success of previous Hockey5s events across the world, including the Youth Olympic Games events in Nanjing 2014 and Buenos Aires 2018.
On June 4-5, 2022, Hockey5s Lausanne will be hosted in the heart of the Olympic Capital Lausanne. Two days of hockey action, excitement, and entertainment are planned.
The women’s teams from India, South Africa, Uruguay, Poland, and Switzerland will compete in a round robin event with a final between the two best teams.
The Indian women’s squad, led by Rajani Etimarpu, will play Uruguay in the first round on June 4, followed by a match against Poland on the same day. On June 5, they will face the hosts, Switzerland, and South Africa, respectively.

For viewers, the competition will feature some fantastic fast and skillful hockey play. Hockey5s is a more frantic and fast-paced version of the game. A game consists of two 10-minute halves, with the ball in play for 90% of the time thanks to perimeter boards that can be used to play the ball.
There should be plenty of goals because players can shoot from anywhere in the attacking half. Players and coaches are getting excited about this tournament, as well as the expanding number of Hockey5s tournaments around the world.

India is the fifth and final women’s team in 2022 Lausanne Hockey 5s Tournament. India’s women will be determined to continue their upward trend after a silver medal triumph in the Hockey5s in Buenos Aires in 2018 and a fourth place finish at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
