The finale began with the five remaining participants, Lindsay Dolashewich, Romeo Escobar, Maryanne Oketch (Winner), Mike Turner, and Jonathan Young, battling for the winning slot through a series of tasks and elimination rounds.
Survivor 42: Who Won?
In the end, Maryanne Oketch was declared Survivor 42 champion. To win, Maryanne had to survive three Tribal Councils, two immunity channels, and an advantage hunt. The finals started with the five players being trapped on a new beach and having to complete a puzzle task, with Mike coming out on top. Mike, in an unexpected move, played his idol for Maryanne, but she had her favourite. Lindsay was therefore ousted from the tribal council. The last four were then confronted with another task, which Romeo won.
As a consequence of his triumph, Romeo was allowed to select the top three survivors, and he chose to preserve Maryanne. Mike and Jonathan were then pitted against one other in a fire-making competition, with Mike narrowly winning.
