Eva Mireles’ death was quite shocking for everyone as no one imagined such an incident to take place. The children were made to board a school bus as law enforcement personnel guarded the scene of the suspected shooting. The incident took place nearby the Robb Elementary School based in Uvalde, Texas, United States, on May 24th, 2022.

Eva Mireles was trained in bilingual and special education. She worked at the Robb Elementary School, where a teenager killed her in a hail of the gunfire before being himself killed by police officers. She loved to teach and had been an educator for 17 years. She taught children in fourth grade in the small Texas town of Uvalde and was co-teaching with Mrs.Irma Garcia for 5 years, but that day she didn’t come home.
While her exact age isn’t known, she was said to be aged between 40-45 years.
“Mireles taught fourth-grade children, generally 9 or 10 years old”, her cousin Cristina Arizmendi Mireles stated on Facebook after her demise.
She also wrote, “My beautiful cousin! Such a devastating day for us all! My heart is shattered into a million pieces after getting this bad news”.
In a short biography which has been posted by the school district’s website, about Mireles, they had written she had “a supportive, fun, and loving family” comprised of her husband, her college-graduate daughter, and also “three furry friends.”
Her husband is Ruben Ruiz, who is a police officer by profession at the school district’s police force, and the agency is investigating the massacre. Mireles’ entire family is in deep shock and they are demanding justice as she did no harm to anyone during her work span at the school. The police have not given any official statement in Eve’s case to date.
There were two days left in the school year when Tuesday’s massacre took place. The school district canceled all the classes for the remainder of the school year and also has established grief counseling for the survivors as this demise affected the children too much.
