We play the game because we want somebody to push us, said Gautam Gambhir in his viral dressing room speech
Gujarat Titans defeated Lucknow Super Giants by a massive margin of 62 runs in the final match of the IPL 2022, securing their playoff place. Lucknow, who were in first place before the final game owing to their higher NRR, will now have to rethink their plans in order to maintain a solid position during the balance of the T20 league. Similarly, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir delivered a motivating speech in the dressing room, shedding light on the team’s grey spots.

Gambhir stated that there is no harm in losing when one team is certain to win. However, it should not appear like one team has given up, as LSG appeared to do against the Titans last night. Gambhir went on to say that a team should not appear weak since there is no room for weakness in the IPL or any other sport, and that Lucknow lacked game awareness against Hardik Pandya and his guys.
“There’s nothing wrong with failing. It’s just fine. One team must win, while the other must lose. Giving up has many negative consequences. I thought we’d given up today. We were frail. In a tournament like the IPL or in sports, there is no room for the weak.
“That is the source of the problem. In this league, we have beaten opponents and competed against pretty excellent teams. But today, I believed we missed that game sense, which was more crucial,” stated Gambhir in a post-game video provided by LSG.
We play the game because we want someone to push us: Gautam Gambhir
The former India cricketer remarked that the Titans bowled well, but that one can not always expect the other team to bowl poorly when world-class players are competing in the IPL. In terms of the match, while LSG were successful in halting GT at 144 runs, Titans’ brilliant bowling assault did not allow Lucknow to settle in for even a second. As a consequence, the KL Rahul-led team was defeated by 82 runs, losing the game by 62 runs.
“We knew they could bowl well and anticipated them to bowl well.” We compete against international bowlers in a world-class tournament. We want people to challenge us because that is what we do.
