JAMIE VARDY has called Wayne Rooney allegation that he advised him his wife Rebekah needed to “cool down” while at Euro 2016 “nonsense”
Wayne said that ex-England boss Roy Hogdson and deputy manager Gary Neville begged him to talk with Jamie. He said that “bad media coverage” and “issues” involving Rebekah were “creating problems and diversions.” However, Leicester star Jamie, who attended the Wagatha Christie trial for the first time today, has refuted the allegations.
Jamie Vardy Hits Out At Wayne Rooney
How Wayne demonstrated in his testimony:
- Coleen was really irritated’ by the leak, but Wayne refused to get involved.
- He described the situation as ‘traumatic’ for Coleen and says she is now a ‘different mother, different wife.’
- The player has never been “especially close to.” Vardy, Jamie
- He called the vitriol thrown at Rebekah in the aftermath of the Wagatha post “disgusting.”
He remarked in a statement outside the High Court: “Wayne is spewing gibberish. He must be perplexed because he never spoke to me about Becky’s media job at Euro 2016. There was nothing to talk about, I know since I talk about everything with Becky.”
Wayne said in court that during the chat, he sat down in the games room and had a coffee with Jamie, who was drinking a can of Red Bull.
“They asked me, as captain, would I be able to speak to Mr Vardy on concerns with his wife, and I believe we all recognised that it was an unpleasant subject, he testified. I’d need to speak to Mr Vardy and ask him to speak to his wife and tell her to calm down.”
When describing the competition in France, the ex-Manchester United star said that Rebekah was “nearly there with the squad” because she was on Facetime with Jamie the entire time.
Jamie’s shocking denial is unlikely to improve the former teammate’s friendship, given Wayne has already stated that he has never “really been pals” with the player.
Jamie also appears to have accused Wayne of lying in court, despite the fact that the former Premier League player had earlier doubled down on his statements when questioned on the stand.
“I’m here here under oath, I 100% talked to Mr Vardy on the subject,” Wayne responded when questioned if he’d ever truly had the chat with Jamie.
He stated today that he “didn’t want to get involved,” but that the entire ordeal has been “very painful” for Coleen.
“We don’t want to be a part of this.” Coleen confessed yesterday that the couple’s 14-year marriage hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
Hugh Tomlinson QC, representing Rebekah, referred to Wayne’s 2017 drink-driving offence in which he was discovered driving a party girl’s car.
The barrister called it “another apparent breakdown” in their relationship and accused the ex-Manchester United player of “misbehaving.”
MARRIAGE PROBLEMS
“Yes, there have been a few,” Coleen replied. Things have happened in my life that have been unfortunate. “They become publicised, and it’s occurred several times.” “I’ve coped with it, and so have we as a couple and as a family.” “There were a few things that happened throughout these few years.”
She also said that the sting operation in her Wagatha probe, which she dubbed Rebekah, was so covert that she didn’t even inform Wayne about it. Coleen said on Friday that she was in a “vulnerable situation” when Wayne was arrested for drunk driving after a ten-hour binge. Back in 2017, while Coleen was pregnant, the Derby manager was taking party girl Laura Simpson home in her VW Beetle when cops swooped.
Coleen described his actions as “some impropriety” while discussing her 14-year marriage. She also stated that she was “unsure whether they were going to get back together” and that they had spent time apart.
WAGATHA ROW
Coleen said her tweet was a “last option” and told the court she was “surprised” at how much it erupted.
She stated today that she “hated every minute” of the repercussions, however the court was informed that she had a Scooby Doo joke about “unmasking the evil” on her phone.
Coleen also testified that she attempted to settle the multi-million pound lawsuit three times “in vain” before it went to trial. She stated: “I’ve been deafeningly quiet… I don’t want to be here… Mrs Vardy brought me here “.. Coleen became a detective in October 2019 and accused Rebekah of using her personal Instagram account to share stories.
Coleen said in the iconic post that she uploaded a series of bogus tales on her Instagram account with restricted access to see if they were picked up by the media, which they were. She then stated that the phoney stories had only been seen by one person before concluding dramatically, “It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
Rebekah, who was significantly pregnant at the time, disputed the charges and said she had been severely beaten as a result of them. She sobbed three times in her own testimony while slamming “hurtful” trolls.
She said she was subjected to “hurtful and unpleasant” troll abuse after the post went viral. “This was my life,” Rebekah added. The judge offered a brief pause for Rebekah to gather her thoughts, but she burst into tears again shortly afterwards.
She sobbed as she described how her kid was delivered in December 2019, only two months after Coleen’s article. Rebekah said that she was “not in a good place” at the time.
She further said that following the Wagatha post, she feared losing the baby and suffered from “continuous worry, panic attacks.” When asked why she went to court, Rebekah stated, “I didn’t do anything wrong – I just wanted to clean my reputation, not just for myself, but for my family and my children.”
The trial is still ongoing.
